Benjamin Bratt (born December 16, 1963 in San Francisco) is an American actor. The middle of five children, Bratt hails from a close-knit family. His mother, a Peruvian Indian from Lima, moved to the U.S. at age 14. His mother is a native American activist. She took her five children along when she was part of the Alcatraz prison takeover in 1970. He is the brother of Peter Bratt. He attended Lowell High School in San Francisco, California. He married Talisa Soto in 13 April 2002 and they have 1 child. Benjamin studied at the University of California at Santa Barbara and at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. He is a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Bratt's most well-known role was that of Detective Reynaldo Curtis on the television show Law & Order. The character's mestizo ancestry, a mix of Latino-Indian and German backgrounds, was the same as Bratt's. In 1999 and again in 2000, he was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for the series Law & Order. His more popular films include Miss Congeniality and Traffic.
