Kirsten Caroline Dunst was born on April 30, 1982 in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, USA to Klaus Dunst and Inez Dunst. She began her career at the age of three appearing in television commercials. She later made the transition to the big screen in her first film appearance, New York Stories, in 1989. Her breakthrough was in Interview with the Vampire, the film based on the Anne Rice novel and directed by Neil Jordan, earned her a Golden Globe nomination, the MTV Award for Best Breakthrough Performance and the Saturn award for Best Young Actress. She graduated from Notre Dame High School in Los Angeles in June of that year. Her most famous performance was as Mary Jane Watson in Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2. She won the 2002 Best Actress Silver Ombú at the Mar de Plata Film Festival for her performance as Marion Davies in Peter Bogdanovich's The Cat's Meow. She made her singing debut in the 2001 film Get Over It. She is now working on her own production company with her mother called "Wooden Spoon Productions."
