Portia de Rossi (born Amanda Lee Rogers in 31 January 1973) is an Australian actress. She was born Amanda Lee Rogers in Melbourne, Victoria and grew up in Grovedale, near Geelong. She took on her present name at the age of 15. Her first significant role was as a young, impressionable model in the 1994 film Sirens. She also had a role in Scream 2, and played regular lawyer Nelle Porter on the popular series Ally McBeal.
In 2001 she stared in Who is Cletis Tout? with Christian Slater. As of 2004 she stars as Lindsay Bluth Fünke on Fox Television's critically acclaimed Arrested Development. In December of 2004 De Rossi became involved with popular comedian Ellen DeGeneres. Earlier, she had been involved in a longterm relationship with singer Francesca Gregorini. According to press reports, the two women reportedly had been planning to cement their relationship in a commitment ceremony or marriage before De Rossi met Degeneres.
