Ralph Nathaniel Fiennes (born December 22, 1962) is a British actor. Born in Suffolk, he is the older brother of actor Joseph Fiennes. Having trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, he joined the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1988. He is the only actor ever to have won a Tony Award for playing Hamlet on Broadway. In 2001 Fiennes received the William Shakespeare Award from the Shakespeare Theatre in Washington. Fiennes' film debut was in 1992, when he played Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights opposite Juliette Binoche. He became known internationally, portraying Amon Goeth, the amoral Nazi concentration camp commander in Schindler's List, for which he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. In 1996 he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor for The English Patient. He married actress Alex Kingston in 1993-1997. In 1995 he started dating Francesca Annis, his co-star in Hamlet. In 2004 Fiennes was cast to play evil Lord Voldemort in the fourth movie of the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, due to be released in November 2005.
