| April | 11 | Child welfare officials and a sheriff's deputy visited the home of Britney Spears but declined to say whether they were investigating the pop princess. The Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services and the Lost Hills sheriff's station declined to give details of Saturday afternoon's visit. "It's a very standard, routine patrol request," Lt. Debra Glaskides said today. "We just roll out with them. We stood by, we took no action, no report or anything." The Sheriff's Department said it was a DCFS matter and couldn't release any information. Glaskides said there may not even be a DCFS investigation, noting it may have been only a welfare check.
| | 4 | Britney Spears' ex, Justin Timberlake, apparently isn’t too keen on Kevin Federline, saying he feels sorry for the singer and labeling her husband "gross". "He thinks Kevin is gross, and there's not much that would change his mind about that," a source told website MSNBC. "He says that they [Spears and Timberlake] had a lot of great years together, and he's pretty sad at how things turned out for her." Timberlake would apparently be willing to help Britney plot her comeback onto the music scene. "I'll bet if Britney wanted Justin to help her put together a comeback record, he'd jump at the chance," claimed the insider.
| | | March | 29 | Britney Spears giving-birth sculpture has drawn thousands of hate e-mails. "This is a new take on pro-life. Pro-lifers normally promote bloody images of abortion. This is the image of birth," Daniel Edwards said of his work, to be unveiled at a Brooklyn gallery in April, months after Edwards' sculpture of Ted Williams severed head stirred up an artistic storm. When some bloggers heard about the exhibit -- "Monument to Pro-Life: The Birth of Sean Preston" -- the gallery was inundated with about 3,000 e-mails from around the world in just a week, split between pro-choice and pro-life opinions. "We also got calls from Tokyo, England, France. Some people are upset that Britney is being used for this subject matter," said gallery co-owner David Kesting. The gallery is hiring extra security guards for the free exhibit opening April 7 and running two weeks.
| | 28 | A life-size sculpture of a naked Britney Spears kneeling on a bearskin rug as she gives birth will be on display next month at Brooklyn's Capla Kesting Fine Art gallery. It was created by Daniel Edwards, who said he never spoke to the 24-year-old pop star or met her, and fashioned her face and figure from photographs. "I admire her. This is an idealized figure," Edwards said.
| | 23 | Britney Spears apparently splashed out more than $90,000 for hubby Kevin Federline's 28th birthday party. According to Ananova, the Federlines went out in style with Brit throwing a party for Kevin to celebrate his birthday, which lasted a whole five days. Festivities included Britney flying Kevin and 15 of his mates on a private jet to Las Vegas, says The Sun. The couple also spent their cheese at classy hotel The Venetian in a penthouse which costs about $7,000 a night. To mark the special occasion, Mrs Federline also treated Kevin to an impromptu "Happy Birthday" which she sang to him over lobster and champagne, before heading to one of the clubs.
| | 16 | A Californian judge has called for more evidence before delivering a verdict on a motion to dismiss a libel case brought by singer Britney Spears against US Weekly magazine over a story alleging that she and husband Kevin Federline made an X-rated sex tape which they showed to advisors. Britney has denied ever making the tape or showing it to her advisors at any point and filed a $20 million libel suit against the magazine. However, the magazine has refused to back down and filed a motion at the Los Angeles superior court in a bid to dismiss the libel suit. In a hearing at a Beverley Hills superior court, Judge Lisa Hart Cole said that the current evidence put forward by both sides was insufficient to make a definitive ruling. Therefore, she has given Spears' attorney more time to garner evidence about a potentially key witness in a bid to bring him before the court. The next hearing is scheduled to take place on May 3rd. Spears was not present at the hearing, as she is currently holidaying in Hawaii.
