Francis Albert Sinatra (born December 12, 1915) began singing in small clubs in New Jersey and joined the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra in 1940 where he rose to fame as a singer. In 1942, he started his solo career. The movie which brought him to the audience recognition was From Here to Eternity (1953). By the early 1960s, he started his own record label: Reprise Records. In the 1960s, Sinatra along with Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr., Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop, formed the Rat Pack.
Sinatra was married to Nancy Barbato (1939-1951) and had three children. Sinatra married the Ava Gardner in 1951 until 1957 and married Mia Farrow (1966-1968). Barbara Sinatra divorced Zeppo Marx to marry Sinatra. They were wed in 1976 until his death. Sinatra was dogged throughout his career by accusations that he was involved with the Mafia. Sinatra died in 1998 of multiple ailments in Los Angeles and was buried in Desert Memorial Park in Cathedral City.
