| March | 16 | Veteran Dallas star Larry Hagman is thrilled that John Travolta will play JR Ewing, the character he created, in the big screen version of the hit TV series. He says: "I think it's great. I was in a movie with John Travolta, "Primary Colors," he was wonderful in that, just wonderful. I'm very honoured he'll be playing my part." He adds: "I think she's a good match for just about anything."

Jennifer Lopez has now been offered the role of Sue Ellen Ewing; John Travolta has been linked to the role of J.R. Ewing; Luke Wilson has been selected to bring Bobby Ewing to the big screen; and Oscar winner Shirley MacLaine is up for the role of Miss Ellie Ewing. Should the deals come together, shooting will likely begin in October after Hairspray is in the can.
