Gabrielle Monique Union was born on October 29, 1973 in Omaha, Nebraska. Union moved at the age of eight to Pleasanton, California, where she grew up and attended high school. In high school, Union was an all-star point guard and a year round athlete participating in soccer, basketball, and track.
Union wanted to become a lawyer, not an actress, and attended the University of Nebraska before moving on to Cuesta College. She ended up her university journeys at UCLA. While studying there, she decided to intern at a modeling agency to earn extra credits at that university. Union was asked by the agency to sign on with them as a new model. She needed money to pay off some college loans and debts and she eventually signed to become a model. Soon after, she landed a job in one episode of the popular television series, Saved by the Bell.
Since then she has went on to have many small but substantial film roles. In 1999 release of Bring it On, in which she played a cheerleader alongside Kirsten Dunst, Union gained wide exposure. She has guest starred on several hit TV shows, all before landing the role of Dr. Courtney Ellis, on CBS' short lived medical drama City of Angels (2000). Her new fame landed her on magazine covers and talk shows and she gained the respect of many movie fans.
Gabrielle Union has participated in a considerable number of television shows and movies. She graduated from UCLA with a degree in sociology and is married to Chris Howard of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
