Bono's photo appears midway through a 160-page glossy publication prepared by Silvio Berlusconi's party that is being delivered to millions of Italian voters before April 9-10 elections. The publication says Bono "is grateful to the premier for action promoted by the Italian government on behalf of poor countries."
| | | March | 13 | U2 announced it was rescheduling its Australian concerts. Bono, confirmed on ABC TV that the Vertigo Tour would probably resume in Australia in November but made no mention of the New Zealand leg. It is believed the band's shock decision to postpone its Australian, New Zealand and Japanese concerts this month was due to U2's guitarist, the Edge, having a seriously ill child. The dates had yet to be finalised. Bono also admitted he would seek a meeting with Prime Minister John Howard when he returns to Australia about increasing its foreign aid to poor nations.
