Rupert Everett's line "sniffing the wind like a dappled deer... " is from Julian Mitchell's "Another Country," the play that brought Everett rapid West End fame in 1981.
Julia Roberts hand-picked both Dermot Mulroney and Cameron Diaz for this film.
There was actually an alternative ending to the movie, where Julianne and Michael end up together, but after test audiences didn't like it, the director filmed this alternative ending.
In the original ending, after watching Michael and Kimberly leave the wedding reception, Julianne meets a man (played by 'John Corbet (I)' ). This ending did not test well and audiences wanted to see more of George, so a new ending was filmed.
In the movie Rupert Everett's characters name is George, but in the script he was originally called Digger.
The scene where everyone gathers in a large room to watch Kimmy throw the boquet was filmed at Cuneo Museum and Gardens in Illinois. The movie crew removed the large carpet from the floor and stored it someplace - it took the museum staff several months to find it again.
